As the pink petals blew,
The doves of love flew
Chirping to the rhythm
Of bliss and delight.
As the sky burns to gold
And the world turns cold,
Dusk’s colors begin to unfold.
The Sun fades to ash
And the Moon dares not to clash.
A city of stars ignite the night,
With dreams of heroes with glory and might.
As the stars dance in twilight,
The wind sings a song
Of memories and sorrow.
At the end of their sorrowful melody,
A glimmer of light arises from below
Waking the world with its infinite glow,
This is the world’s eternal flow.
Michelle Lo, a sophomore at Carlmont High School, has been writing poetry since 8th grade. To her, poetry serves as a way to relieve stress and express her feelings. She first brainstorms about emotionally distressing topics in her life. She carefully chooses her words to best suit the rhyme and tone of the poem. Lo uses Google Docs and rhyme.com to help with writing, making it much more manageable.
The poem, Eternal Flow, depicts the cyclical nature of life and the beauty in that simplicity. The words create melodious stanzas appreciating Earth’s natural cycles and leave the reader feeling calm and in awe. Lo hopes her poem nurtures a love for nature and develops an admiration for the little things you see in life.
